They told you to stay quiet so we could look strong.
They told you to smile so we wouldn’t make people uncomfortable.
They told you to forgive him, her, them—so we wouldn’t “lose respect.”

But they were wrong.

You are not the one who broke the culture.

The person who hurt you did that.

Affirmations for the Child Who Was Told Otherwise

🧡 I deserve to be safe—even if the person is “respected.”
🧡 My truth matters—even when others want to cover it up.
🧡 I do not have to protect people who hurt me.
🧡 I am not the problem—I am the proof that truth still survives.
🧡 My feelings are not “too much.” They are my wisdom speaking.
🧡 I carry culture in my heart, my spirit, my dreams.
🧡 Real culture doesn’t ask me to stay silent. It teaches me to heal.
🧡 I am allowed to tell. I am allowed to cry. I am allowed to get help.
🧡 I am important to our story.
🧡 I am the reason we are becoming whole.

🕊️ A Gentle Reminder:

No matter what they told you…
You are not too much.
You are not too loud.
You are not too broken.
You are not wrong for needing protection.

They should have protected you.
And now, we will.
