Spread the love

A release for the Survivor who is ready to set the weight down.

There was a time when I thought it was my job to hold it all.

Hold the pain.
Hold the silence.
Hold the family together.
Hold my breath.
Hold in the scream.

But today, I honor the truth:

I am not here to carry what broke me.
I am here to heal what was never mine to hold.

The shame? That was never mine.
The blame? That was never mine.
The weight of other people’s choices? Never mine.

And yet, I carried them for so long that they started to feel like my name.

No more.

I return the shame to the sender.
I return the silence to the system.
I return the guilt to the hands that should have held me gently—but didn’t.

I choose to carry what nourishes me now:

  • My voice.

  • My joy.

  • My safety.

  • My peace.

“I deserve a life that doesn’t ask me to prove my worth by enduring harm.”

“I deserve softness that doesn’t come with suffering.”

“I am not broken—I was burdened. And I get to lay that burden down now.”

To the child I was: You did not deserve what happened.
To the woman I am becoming: You deserve everything good. Without punishment. Without question. Without delay.

I am not weak for laying it down.
I am wise. I am worthy. I am walking in my becoming.
