I encourage you to be steadfast in your pursuit of your education. I have a bachelor’s degree but getting it did not look like it does on television. It took nearly 20 years. It was also a combination of certificates, an associates degree, and a class at a time. I did not know that this was a blessing. I cried. I sobbed. I would run into classmates with master’s degrees and felt so behind. Comparison is truly a thief of joy.Â
I come from a people who overcame manufactured hell on earth. My life is a miracle. And speaking of, in the meantime there was healing (pretty and unpretty versions) and joy. I learned that how to be steadfast in my pursuits. I learned to create my own lanes no matter what condition I may be in. And, to value them.Â
I truly believe that the elders wanted us to get that lesson and “learn it good” as my grandmothers would say. Thank God for shows and casts like a “Different World”. They were the seed that we were supposed to tend to in our own garden so to speak. No matter what, keep that eye on the goal.
Isn’t her version just glorious?
