My mother is beautiful and has been all her life.

Recently she was asked to appear in a commercial. In came mixed feelings nearly every woman is familiar with.

Rather than do her own makeup, she decided to get her makeup done by a professional makeup artist. Now, she was nervous about trusting someone to do it. She’s particular.  Like many women of a certain age,  she has acquired a style of her very own and her own way of doing things.

Mama has informed her ‘girls’ that she is a fan of some of the new makeup trends but certainly not all.

I Will Make It Myself

Did I ever tell y’all that my mother used to make my school clothes by hand? When I first started school, my mother didn’t care for the clothes in the stores.  Too grown for her “baby“.

(Still calls me that by the way. I am GenX-years-old Mommy!)

Every outfit from my early school-age years was hand-sewn.

I have some really great memories of going to pick out the fabric, and the pattern, watching her cut it out, and then seeing it all turn into a stylish dress no other girl in the world owned. 💌

Particular.💗

You Are SO Beautiful

My mother helped me to see my beauty. Not just the external beauty, because that changes and you may not always feel connected to that every day.

I’m talking about the internal beauty. That purposeful soul-deep beauty.

So I was elated when my mother sent me an update text with her “after” photo. I know that smile.  She was elated!

Mom now has a visual disability.

When Shannon, her MUA, told her she had to take her glasses off, she shared this with her.

Shannon said to her “I will be your eyes“. And Mama listened. Took her glasses off and trusted.

(Oh wow! She must really have special powers because….😲)

I want to thank Shannon so much!

Shannon gave her take home tips for the future, lifted her spirits, and made her feel even for confident about the commercial appearance.

Thank you so much, Shannon.  Throughout her life she has escorted me, her students, abused women, and many other women to see their beauty.

Thank you for doing the same for her.

Gratitude and Appreciation!
